Cafergot® Tablets are in short supply by the manufacturer Sandoz. Cafergot® was indicated as therapy to abort or prevent vascular headache, e.g., migraines. The strength is 1mg/100mg and requires a doctor’s prescription to order. For more information please contact our compounding pharmacy.

Midrin has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer Caraco Pharmaceutical. The name of the compounded medication is Acetamidrin and requires a doctor’s prescription to order. For more information please contact our compounding pharmacy.

Armour Thyroid® & Liotrix® (Thyrolar)- T4/T3 Combinations: Armour Thyroid (porcine) and Liotrix (synthetic) availability is often erratic. How Can You Tell Quality in Compounding?
  |
Quality in compounding is directly related to quality assurance and quality improvement standards. Our standards are imposed and evaluated through the PCAB board of accreditation. Meeting state and local licensure requirements are also important, but going the extra mile to demonstrate nationally accepted quality assuarance, improvement and control is the key.
PCAB's Process for Accreditation:
An extensive On-Site Inspection
Assessment of the pharmacy’s system for assuring and maintaining staff competency.
Review of facilities and equipment.
Review of records and procedures required to prepare quality compounded medications.
Verification that the pharmacy uses ingredients from FDA registered and licensed sources.
Review of the pharmacy’s program for testing compounded preparations.
Verification by PCAB that the pharmacy is not on probation for issues related to compounding quality, public safety or controlled substances.
Verification that the pharmacy is properly licensed in each state it does business in.
Choose a superior compounded medication by looking for the designation “PCAB Accredited® compounding pharmacy” or the PCAB Accredited® Seal. |

Strict on Procedures |
*Universal Arts Pharmacy is an independent compounding pharmacy; pharmacist owned and operated for 18 years in South Florida. Our compounding practices are governed and regulated by the State of Florida Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, and the national Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board, PCAB.
*Universal Arts Pharmacy is the first PCAB accredited compounding pharmacy in Florida and among the first 10 in the nation to earn the seal. Our commitment to safe and effective medication drew us to the program early on as we understood the need for a higher standard and oversight in compounding pharmacy.
*Has earned the PCAB accreditation status and voluntarily commits to their stringent compounding standard operating procedures, guidelines and inspections since 2007.
*Meets and exceeds United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) <797> guidelines for sterile compounding standards, including, but not limited to:
*Third party sterility testing to meet USP <71> Standards: Fungal, Bacterial, Mold, Yeast. Universal Arts Pharmacy has no incident or positive sterility test reported in 18 years of practice.
*USP <797> Clean Room/Laminar Flow Hoods undergo independent certification every 6 months.
*Chemicals are purchased ONLY from reputable FDA‐approved vendors, who provide the Certificate of Analysis (C of A) for each individual lot of chemical.
*Staff pharmacists and technicians endure rigorous training in general and aseptic (sterile) compounding technique.
*Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place for tracking all lots of compounds
*Universal Arts Pharmacy provides compounds to patients and physicians to meet a specific need not met by a manufactured pharmaceutical. The pharmacy does not duplicate ANY manufactured product unless that product becomes unavailable or is in a reported manufacturer short supply.
About the industry…
*Compounding pharmacies are governed/regulated by each board of pharmacy for the state(s) in which they practice/dispense. Universal Arts Pharmacy fully complies and has always been in good standing with the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
*The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does play a vital role in the practice of compounding as it inspects, regulates, and approves the suppliers of raw and bulk chemical materials. The FDA also plays a role in protecting consumers and working with compounding pharmacies by compiling a list of do not compound medications. Universal Arts Pharmacy adheres to these policies as required by the FDA.
*Compounding pharmacies can help to bridge the gap between products needed to maximize patient care and manufactured pharmaceuticals currently available on the market. Many provide alternate dosage forms, customized/combined therapy, and unique products, all with the ultimate goal of achieving good patient compliance and well‐being.
Universal Arts Pharmacy can provide a variety of sterile and non‐sterile products to meet your needs. It is always our goal to provide high quality and effective compounding services. However, Universal Arts Pharmacy will not compromise patient safety, and therefore may require additional testing on certain products prior to filling any order. We thank you for your patience and understanding as our top priority is to safely and efficiently aid in care for your patients.
Thank you for your continued support of our pharmacist owned and operated, Universal Arts Pharmacy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 305-556-2673.
