Compounding for Kids
Pediatric compounding is gaining in popularity and is being recognized by more and more pediatricians each year as a viable way to administer medications. Like adults, kids are not all created the same. Their personalities and medical needs often demand that medications be as flexible as possible. Compounding offers improved dosage solutions. Kids can be sensitive to certain tastes, smells and have sensitivity to certain gritty or bitter liquids. Other times swallowing can be difficult and injections can be scary. Compounding a medication can give parents and physicians the flexibility of using the same active ingredient needed while placing it in a different dosage form or concentration than how it is normally available. |
